Everything is fine here, had a wonderful stay for the price. I liked my room - brand-new with a fireplace. This hotel has excellent and unbeatable location close to everything. And it's nestled in a nice building just next door to the center of tons of shoppes and restaurants and many restaurants and colonial Williamsburg.

Did not like anything about this place.
Carpet was stained and pulled from wall, cramped room and bathroom trying to fit everything in it, table didn't sit level, bathtub mat was very stained, heating system didn't work well, very noisey, not sound proof at all. Wasn't sure a few times if someone was trying to get in our room or the room next door. The breakfast was a joke! I could go on, but what's the use. This place needs to be torn down. I had two nites books, only stayed one and did not get a refund for the 2nd nite, which I think was really cheap.

The hotel was what it was. I enjoyed the fact that is was right in the middle of all the prime destinations in Williamsburg.
The hotel served continental breakfast, but it wasn't at all advertised and when we found out they were having it, it was late. Usually breakfast starts at 6am.

Perfect location - centrally located to all of Williamsburg activities. Room rate was excellent.
Supposedly updated in 2009, was somewhat clean. However, needs serious remodeling. Outdated and unclean bathrooms - mold, mildew, and stains throughout bathroom. Probably won't stay here again because of that, even though rate was good.

The only thing I can honestly say I liked was the price we got on the room. And it was very quiet because we were the only ones on that side of the motel.
We didn't like the location of the room. We had to look at a very ugly, pool area that seemed to be under some kind of renovation, I guess. The desk employee was kind and courteous but we only spoke when we checked in. As a whole I hate motel beds because I have back problems and the beds are always as hard as a rock. If you are surveying in order to make changes, then I suggest more pillow top mattresses that are actually comfortable. I always feel like motels like your money but they don't care if your stay is a comfortable one.

Hotel backs onto railway line - trains very long and extremely noisy. Mattress covered in plastic which makes for uncomfortable bed, bed had someone else's hair in between sheets but sheets looked clean. No hot water in the morning. Bathroom urgently needs renovating.

Quite hvac. Not much road noise. Very good price.
Lack of variety in breakfast foods. Room was approximately 200 feet from railroad track. You could still hear the train even with the good quality soundproofing of the room.

Had an awesome group trip with friends! We loved the outdoor pool, and the game room kept us entertained for hours. Just remember, the rooms aren't super fancy, but they do the job if you're not spending much time indoors. Check-in was easy and the staff was really friendly.
One downside was the cleanliness. We found some areas a bit dusty and could have used a thorough clean.

I stayed at Captain John Smith Inn for one night and had mixed feelings. The location is really convenient for visiting Colonial Williamsburg. I enjoyed the quick access to attractions. The staff at check-in were friendly and cute. The pool area looked nice and was a fun spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. I appreciated having a fridge and microwave in the room. The room definitely needed some improvements. It was quite dated and had areas that seemed less than clean. The carpet felt sticky, and the air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool. I noticed some dusty corners and spots that could use a thorough clean. The lighting in the room was also not ideal, with one of the lamps not functioning properly.
